Welcome to the Pepper Annex blog! One of the questions that we get asked a lot is “what is a dry bar?” Today, on the blog we are going to answer your question, and tell you everything you need to know to get the most out of the services we offer at our local hair salon in Crystal Lake. Instead of searching “hair salon near me” or “dry bar near me,” stay right here.
Everything You Need to Know About a Dry Bar
A dry bar is a salon that offers blowouts and styles — without hair cuts and color services. At Pepper Annex, we provide it all, but do offer the same services you can expect at any dry bar in the Crystal Lake area.
What is a Blowout?
A blow out involves the hairstylist washing your hair, drying it, and styling it without giving you a haircut. A blow out refers to a variety of styles including straight and sleek, voluminous with body, beachy waves, and curls. Some dry bars also offer other styles such as braids and updos, but these usually aren’t considered a blowout and will cost more than just a wash and style.
Why Get a Blow Out?
Going to the salon to get a blow out isn’t a substitute for getting a haircut — your hair needs to be trimmed to stay healthy and to maintain its shape. However, it can be a great way to help your hair look its best whether it be for a special event, a date, or even just to treat yourself after a bad day. Though some blowout styles can be achieved by anyone, in many cases, you won’t have the products, tools, or skills (with practice) to do it. And let’s be honest, it can be difficult to style your own hair.
How Long Will It Take?
The time it takes for your blowout depends on how much hair you have: thicker hair will always take longer to dry and style than thinner hair. However, it is a good idea to plan on 45 minutes to an hour for your blow out style.
How Much Is a Blow Out?
The cost of your blow out will depend on the salon that you go to. However, in many cases, you can always expect it to be less than your haircut and/or color. At Pepper Annex we offer our blowouts at $35 from both our stylists and senior stylists.
How Long Will My Blow Out Last?
How long your blowout lasts depends on your hair type and lifestyle. Those with finer hair who tend to have to wash their hair more often may find their blow out only lasts a couple of days. Those with thicker hair may find theirs lasts three to five days. Also, those who workout or sweat as a result of their job will find that their blowout won’t last as long. To get the most out of your blow out, we suggest investing in dry shampoo; you can make your blowout last longer by simply spraying your roots with a little dry shampoo and gently finger-combing your hair.
